Learn to swim

We believe in the importance of all children learning to swim in an environment that is friendly, enjoyable and safe. We work at each individual childs pace and follow the ASA’s National plan.

Learn to swim

We work at each individual child’s pace, offering encouragement along the way so that each child becomes confident, both in their own abilities and being in and around water. Following the ASA’s National Plan for teaching.

In stage 1 we have helpers in the water, often from our competition squad, who will assist the children in armbands to build their confidence and ensure their safety. Children will never be rushed through the stages, and will only be moved up to the next level once we feel they are confident and competent, so parents can be confident in the knowledge that their children are being taught, not only to be safe in the water, but how to swim the strokes correctly too.

Once children have reached level 5 they can then move into our junior development section of the club, where they will continue to build on their swimming skills.

Sessions

In Learn to Swim, our sessions last for half an hour and are swam across the width of the pool. We offer swimming tuition for children after their 5th birthday. Our pupil/teacher ratio is 6:1 to ensure all children are given individual attention in to ensure their safety.

We currently have a waiting list in our Learn to Swim section and the time children have to wait will depend on the Stage the swimmer is at and whether we have spaces. The list is operated on a strict first come first served basis.

For your child/ren to go on to the waiting list, we need the following:

  • Their names, dates of birth and your address
  • Your day/evening telephone number, mobile number and email address.
  • Your preferred swim time, if any.
  • Their current ability (with/without armbands, any badges etc?
